Purpose of the Summit
The organizers envision the Summit as an opportunity for librarians, teachers and other practitioners across the educational spectrum to come together to share ideas and strengthen information literacy throughout the Midwest.
Keynote Speaker: Char Booth
Early riser, oceanite, and advocate of critical reflective practice, Char Booth explores the intersection of pedagogy, activism, and design in libraries. Char is Associate Dean of the University Library at California State University San Marcos, an institution with a strong commitment to social justice and educating minoritized learners. Char was previously the Director of Research, Teaching, and Learning Services at the Claremont Colleges Library and has held positions at the University of California at Berkeley and Ohio University. A faculty member of the ACRL Information Literacy Immersion Institute, Char’s publications include the Ilene F. Rockman Award-winning Reflective Teaching, Effective Learning: Instructional Literacy for Library Educators (ALA Editions) and Informing Innovation: Tracking Student Interest in Emerging Library Technologies (ACRL).
