Registration is now open for the 2024 Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA/ABSC) conference, Disruptive & Diverse, from Tuesday, June 11, to Friday, June 14, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The early-bird rate is in effect until Friday, May 10. Reduced pricing is also available for library technicians, students, those who are retired or unemployed, and equity-denied groups.
The full program has been released and there are numerous sessions relevant for those in STEM, including equity in scholarly communication; collaborative learning for teams; workplace experience of disabled and neurodiverse library staff; dealing with growing demand for evidence synthesis support in non-health disciplines, and much more!
The conference features three great keynotes: brain cancer survivor, former nurse, and Broadway performer, Catherine Wreford; writer and activist, Nora Loreto; and Joe Curnow, a community organizer and academic hose work focuses on building power to address the crises of austerity, securitization, and censorship in public libraries. See the conference website for more information on the keynote speakers, local tours available to conference attendees, and the city of Winnipeg.
As an added bonus – CHLA will occur directly after the True North Science Bootcamp so registrants can make one trip and attend two amazing professional development events. The Boot Camp is an annual event for librarians who support research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This year’s boot camp features faculty members peaking on Indigenous science undergraduate programs, Manitoba astronomy and astrophysics, equity and data, genetics and fitness levels in polar bears, climate change, and medical physics. Registration is now open for TNSBC (June 9-11, Sunday-Tuesday, 2024) and includes all food, social activities, and planetarium and trolley tours.
Take advantage of that strong US exchange rate and come visit us in beautiful Winnipeg, Manitoba, for two invigorating and exciting conferences.
