Registration is open for the ACRL webinar “Smart Tools, Smarter Librarians: Conversations about Libraries and AI”. It will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, March 5, at 1:00 PM CDT. Please see below for more information, including the link to registration.
For the third year in a row, ACRL’s Value of Academic Libraries (VAL) and New Roles and Changing Landscapes (NRCL) Committees are joining forces to host an entry in their Trend Talk series, which are online discussion forums exploring new or emerging trends in academic librarianship.
In this forum, panelists will share their experience and methodology for integrating and adopting generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools into their work. After a brief talk by each panelist, attendees will have the opportunity to dive deeper into discussion with the panelists and each other in breakout rooms. We’ll round out the forum with a summary of strategies you can use to successfully navigate the evolving world of generative AI at your institutions.
Panelists and presentation topics include:
• “Prompt Engineering,” by Michael Kicey, PhD, MLIS, Associate Librarian for Humanities at University of Buffalo
• “Toward a New Framework for Human-Centered Librarianship in the Age of AI and Beyond,” by Melissa Mallon (she/her), Associate University Librarian for Teaching & Learning, Vanderbilt University Libraries
• “AI Faculty & Staff Development,” by Laura Sheets (she/her), Assistant Professor/Instruction Services Librarian, Bowling Green State University
