The American Library Association is co-hosting the webinar “Advancing Digital Equity through Federal Programs and Library Partnerships” with the Urban Libraries Council on Monday, April 15, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT. The webinar will focus on how libraries will be leading opportunities through the Digital Equity Act, which provides $2.75 billion to states through grant programs that promote digital equity and inclusion.
The Digital Equity Act names incarcerated individuals, other than individuals who are incarcerated in a Federal correctional facility, as one of the eight Covered Populations that the Digital Equity Act grant programs are intended to benefit. This webinar is an opportunity to hear from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) who is administering the Digital Equity Act funds. Additionally, NTIA is particularly interested in connecting with library workers who work in correctional facilities, and learning more about the challenges faced in applying for upcoming Digital Equity Act grant programs and hearing about the communities you serve from the library perspective.
