Digital Commonwealth is a non-profit collaborative organization in Massachusetts, founded in 2006 among state and local partners to foster growth and stability for digital collections particularly among smaller institutions. It has since grown through continued local involvement of volunteers, state support, close partnership with Boston Public Library, and affiliation with the Digital Public Library of America. Digital Commonwealth continues to serve the needs of statewide institutions and its members by developing robust digital infrastructure, committing to preservation of digital objects, offering free imaging services, and developing and sharing resources that support good practices in digital collections management.
