Kansas State University is hosting a free AI and the Future Symposium from Tuesday, October 15, to Thursday, October 17. The AI and the Future Symposium is a free, three-day event featuring a variety of panels, lightning talks, and workshops, with most offered both in person at the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan and online.
Topics include: recent advances in AI, how AI can be used for educational purposes, AI applications in various disciplines, including agriculture, engineering and the humanities, in addition to some of the ethical issues surrounding AI. Sessions that may be of particular interest to librarians include:
- Panel: “Beyond the Books: AI and Academic Honesty” (Wednesday, October 16, 9:00-9:50 AM CDT)
- Panel: “Missing in the Algorithm: An Examination of Archival Silence in AI Environments” (Thursday, October 17, 2:00-2:50 PM CDT)
- Keynote: “Cultivating an AI Ethics Ecosystem” (Thursday, October 17, from 4:00-5:30 PM CDT)
