Registration is open for the Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries webinar “Supporting Library Colleagues with Mentorship”. It will take place on Tuesday, November 12, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT. Please see below for more information, including the link to registration.
Singer/songwriter Bill Withers reminds us in his song “Lean on Me” that we all have challenges at times in our lives and that there are people in our lives who are available to help support us through those challenges. As library professionals, some of these relationships can be mentorship relationships to help us navigate challenging moments in our careers. Mentorship can be formal or informal, and our panelists will provide thoughts and insights into different ways that mentorship can exist in the library world–within an institution, at a national level, and potentially focused on supporting efforts to diversify the profession.
The presenters are Grace Allbaugh, Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian at Illinois State University’s Milner Library; Kirstin Duffin, Research Support Librarian, Professor, and Liaison for the Science and Math Departments at Eastern Illinois University; and Leanne VandeCreek, Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Public Services in the University Libraries at Northern Illinois University.
