Are you applying for the third round of Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries? Join ALA Public Programs Office staff for a pre-application webinar where you’ll get an intensive look at the application, tips on how to write a comparative narrative, and the opportunity to ask questions. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 21, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM CDT.
LTC: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries is open to libraries in the U.S. and U.S. territories that serve small or rural communities. The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) defines small communities as those with a legal service area population of 25,000 or less and rural communities as those more than, or equal to, five miles from an urbanized area.
Libraries that previously were awarded LTC: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries grants are eligible to apply for additional funding to expand their previously awarded projects.
Selected libraries will develop facilitation skills through online training, talk with community members (virtually or in-person) about local needs, and undertake a project that benefits their community. Grant funds may cover a range of expenses, from hotspot purchases to personal protective equipment to staff time to undertake community engagement work.
