Registration is open for the upcoming Library Juice Academy course “Introduction to Career Paths in STEM Librarianship”. It will last from Monday, April 4, to Sunday, May 1. The instructor is Amanpreet Kaur. More information on the course and its learning objectives is below.
“Introduction to Careers in STEM Librarianship” is a four-week asynchronous professional development course for library workers who are interested in dipping their toes in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math/medicine) librarianship. This course will be offered in October 2021 and utilizes an asset-based approach to career exploration and focuses on the following learning objectives.
- identify various stakeholders who utilize STEM libraries
- explore the ways STEM librarians support the information needs of various stakeholders
- discuss potential career paths and trends within STEM librarianship
- list professional organizations, publications, listservs, and additional opportunities relevant to STEM librarianship
- interpret STEM librarian job descriptions
- create career-oriented deliverables (virtual resume, mock cover letter, and a professional development plan)
