Register today for the next ILA Noon Network webinar, “Academic Library Space for Promoting Wellness: Space Changes at Cullom-Davis Library, Bradley University”. It will take place on Monday, March 6, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT. The presenters are HSLI member Michelle Nielsen Ott and Christina Norton, both of Cullom-Davis Library.
As a part of making an inclusive and safe environment, employees at the Cullom-Davis Library at Bradley University completed several library space projects promoting wellness and health. The library converted 7 of 15 public restrooms into all-gender, multi-stall restrooms. These are the first multi-stall all-gender restrooms on campus. Two all-gender restrooms have free period product dispensers and additional restrooms will receive them.
Also in progress is the creation of a mindfulness room offering a place for contemplation, meditation, prayer, or a sensory break. These changes in the library space allow patrons and employees to choose what is best for them in regards to mind and body functions.
This webinar will describe the steps the library took to convert these restrooms and create the mindfulness room as well as plans for future space changes and the partnerships created throughout campus. This webinar is free and open to all Illinois libraries. A recording of the webinar will be posted in the ILA Noon Network Archive by Friday, March 10. If you have any questions about this webinar, please contact Tamara Jenkins at tjenkins@ila.org.
