Registration is now open for the next ILA Noon Network webinar, “Rebuilding Trust in Truth”. It will take place on Wednesday, July 14, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
People have always disagreed with each other. When they communicate their views, sometimes they make mistakes of fact or context. Often, they cherry pick data and distort the findings. On occasion, they out-and-out lie, with dangerous consequences. Is “fake news” protected by the First Amendment?
Join Jamie LaRue, author of “The New Inquisition: Understanding and Managing Intellectual Freedom Challenges,” and former Director of ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, to help assess our current information environment, and what librarians can or ought to do about it.
More information, including the link to registration, is available here.
All ILA Noon Network webinars are free and recordings will be made available shortly after webinars. Registration for all live webinars is limited to Illinois libraries. Others may view the recordings when they are available.
