We are happy to announce that registration is now open for the fully online course “Bibliometrics and Scientometrics for Research Evaluation”. This course is provided by Leiden University’s Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) in collaboration with the Galter Health Sciences Library at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine.
The previously in-person course has been revamped. Take note of the reduced registration rate for the online course. The course is now held over four days (Monday, November 9, to Thursday, November 12), from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and 12:00 to 2:00 PM CDT each day. Additionally, each morning begins with an optional 8:30 AM CDT “Ask Me Anything” session to take advantage of the expertise and guidance of our experienced instructors.
After completing the course, participants will be able to accomplish the following tasks.
- understand and interpret a wide range of publication- and citation-based statistics;
- use the VOSviewer software developed at CWTS in a proficient manner to create your own professional bibliometric visualizations; and
- reflect critically on proper and improper use of bibliometric and scientometric information in the evaluation of scientific research
