April 11 RAILS Member Update Features Something for Everyone
All staff members at all RAILS libraries are invited to join us for the next RAILS Member Update on Thursday, April 11, from 10 a.m.-noon. Attend at an available RAILS videoconference location or via one-way streaming video (RAILS Live). Agenda items include:
- A discussion of the increase in the minimum wage in Illinois and options for libraries moving forward. Diane Foote, Executive Director of the Illinois Library Association, will join us for this discussion.
- An update on system membership standards and how it will benefit all RAILS libraries to complete our data collection form.
- How libraries can get involved with SimplyE, an open source e-reader app that makes it possible for patrons to access all of a library’s different e-book collections in one place. Matt Hammermeister from the Pinnacle Library Cooperative will also talk about Pinnacle’s participation as a beta-tester in the SimplyE for Consortia project.
- Latest news about our campaign to help all RAILS libraries to tell their stories and promote their value to their different stakeholders.
- An update on Explore More Illinois, our new online cultural attractions pass program that debuts April 1. No joke!
You will also hear about these RAILS multitype collaborative grant projects:
- Eureka Public Library District and Congerville-Goodfield-Eureka CUSD 140 “Book Bundles” project
- Lisle Public Library and Naperville School District 203 “Families Together: Reading Enrichment for Social/Emotional Learning” project
- Harper Community College and Prospect Heights Public Library District collaboration to provide 21st-century technology to students and patrons, ages 5-12
Attendees will also have the opportunity to share the latest news from their libraries. Register today!
