The next free webinar hosted by the Special Libraries Association Academic & Education Community and ACRL’s EBSS (Educational and Behavioral Sciences Section) Education Committee will occur at 11:30 AM CDT on Friday, April 12.
It will feature Kennesaw State University librarians Chelsee Dickson and Heather Hankins, who will share their work on untraditional repositories. Chelsee and Heather will be presenting a brief overview of their chapter “Let’s Say Yes”, published in the ACRL book Rethinking Institutional Repositories. The presentation will cover their collaborative work which led to writing the book chapter, their working process for coauthoring, and their current and future plans for their roles at Kennesaw State University, including building a brand new Scholarly Communications unit.
Chelsee Dickson is the scholarly communications librarian for the Kennesaw State University (KSU) Library System. Chelsee is passionate about open access, open educational resources, copyright, and technology in libraries. She supports faculty and students in their publishing endeavors, and she is interested in the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion as they relate to open access and intellectual freedom.
Heather Hankins is the institutional repository supervisor for the Kennesaw State University (KSU) Library System. She uses her role as IR supervisor to highlight and amplify the broad variety of scholarly and creative works that the KSU community creates. Heather feels that administrating an IR allows her to provide a global audience and support to anyone with something to say. She believes IRs can promote efficient knowledge dissemination and create a lasting, positive impact on the world.
