The University of Chicago Library is hosting two national leaders in the battle against book bans, Emily Drabinski, 2023-2024 American Library Association President, and Dr. Emily Knox, author of Book Banning in the 21st Century America, for a panel discussion moderated by Torsten Reimer, University Librarian and Dean of the University Library. Panelists will share their insights on recent trends in book banning, including what is driving book banning today.
The panel discussion will take place virtually on Wednesday, July 31, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM CDT. This event is co-sponsored by the University of Chicago Library; the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture at the University of Chicago; and the School of Information Sciences at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
