The Cataloging and Maintenance Center (CMC) is providing RDA Book Training for library staff in any Illinois library. This is a 6-week course using Moodle software and will run from Monday, March 4-Friday, April 12. This course covers the changes from AACR to RDA guidelines. FRBR, WEMI, identifying hybrid, AACR and RDA records, and series will be covered. Participants will take quizzes and copy catalog books. It is assumed that participants have basic cataloging knowledge and experience.
This is an asynchronous course, so you will not need to log in at a specific time, but you are expected to complete assignments and quizzes by the end of each week.

The Cataloging and Maintenance Center (CMC) is providing RDA Video and Audio Recording Training for library staff in any Illinois library. This is a 6-week course using Moodle software, and will run from Monday, April 22-Friday May 31. This course covers the changes from AACR to RDA guidelines. MARC record elements, including fixed field elements, will be covered. Participants will copy catalog DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks, and find matching records in OCLC. It is assumed that participants have basic cataloging knowledge and experience. It is assumed that participants have basic cataloging knowledge and experience.
This is an asynchronous course, so you will not need to log in at a specific time, but you are expected to complete assignments and quizzes by the end of each week.
Registered participants will be e-mailed a log in and password before April 19.
It is strongly encouraged that participants take the RDA Book course before the RDA Video and Audio Recording course.
SHARE participants will receive 15 hours of cataloging continuing education credit for each course. At the completion of the course, a certification of completion will be awarded.
The RDA Book and RDA for Video and Audio Recordings courses will be offered every three months and consistently throughout the calendar year. The book course will be offered first, then followed by the video course.

Online with the CMC 2019 Schedule
A one-hour chat session with staff from the Cataloging Maintenance Center (CMC). Each session will begin with a short presentation on a general cataloging topic. The session will then be opened for questions on the presentation as well as on any cataloging topic. Interactive discussion, after the presentation, is encouraged!
The presentations will not focus on any ILS, or on local practices of any library or consortia.
