Join the Wednesday, March 24, Wikipedia edit-a-thon on the history of the health sciences. If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more, please contact Megan Rosenbloom, at meganrosenbloom@gmail.com. She will share the working document with the names and more instructions.
Backstory
Some of you may be MLA members who participated in the MLA History of the Health Sciences Caucus fun lunchtime virtual BINGO session on February 3, as part of a MLA virtual events month and coinciding with African American History Month. It was a prelude to a March 24 Wikipedia edit-a-thon to which all are invited, not just MLA members.
Some Information
The event will take place on Wednesday, March 24, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM CDT. We invite medical library workers to improve the Wikipedia entries for these names and other people of color important to the history of medicine. No prior experience is necessary, but attendees must register here by Wednesday, February 24. This will give participants time to create their Wikipedia accounts, enroll in our edit-a-thon, and watch a short asynchronous training in advance. The event will focus on citation improvement, with the possibility of future events doing more in-depth text editing if there is interest.
