ILA is sponsoring several Library Legislative Meet-Ups next month. All librarians are encouraged to register and attend. Don’t miss out on this chance to talk to your legislators. You can meet them in person and talk about issues affecting libraries and higher education, including MAP funding and financial support for libraries. Members of the U.S. Congress and the Illinois General Assembly; directors, trustees, and staff from all types of libraries; and others concerned about legislative effects on local libraries are all encouraged to participate. These include your faculty and students. Please share this announcement with your colleagues and anyone else who may be interested.
Note that the first-ever Chicago Library Legislative Meet-up will take place on Monday, February 6. Featured speakers will include Brian Bannon, Commissioner of the Chicago Public Library, and Scott Walter, University Librarian at DePaul University. Each legislator will be introduced.
