Registration is open for the next ILA Noon Network webinar, “Find Your Voice: You Can (and Should!) Run for Local Office”. It will take place on Wednesday, April 17, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT. Please see below for more details, including the link to registration.
With increasing challenges to public and school library materials across the country, you may have wondered what you can do on an individual level to help. In fact, you can use your voice and expertise to have a big impact on your local library or school board!
Even if you never pictured yourself running for office, even if you aren’t involved in local politics, and even if you don’t think you’re qualified, you should run! This webinar explains why and how library workers should get involved locally to fight back against book banning.
Presenter Emily Gilbert is an assistant professor and liaison Librarian at University of Illinois Chicago, where she supports the research needs of faculty, students, and other researchers in the College of Medicine. Prior to joining UIC, she spent a decade in other academic libraries, including six years as a health sciences librarian working with allied health programs.
