Registration is open for the ILA Noon Network webinar “Innovating Outreach: Involving Collection Management in Outreach at an Academic Library”. It will take place on Wednesday, April 3, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT. Please see below for more information, including the link to registration.
Initial research suggests that most work done in community outreach by academic libraries is access services focused, often through partnerships with K-12 schools and public libraries. These efforts have been proven to build networks between universities and community members. However, little has been written about how technical services departments can contribute to community outreach or relationship building.
This webinar discusses how outreach beyond the academic community via a technical services department’s collection development activities can be beneficial to both university libraries and to the partners it has in the community including several concrete examples of how the Loyola University Chicago Libraries have begun such efforts over the last few years.
The presenter is Jackie Mann, Monograph Acquisitions Associate and Interim Coordinator at Loyola University Chicago Libraries.
