Mark your calendars. Illinois State University’s Bryant Jackson Lecture will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 13, in the Circus Room in the Bone Center. (Click here for a map of the ISU campus.) Our featured speaker this year will be Roger Schonfeld, Director of the Libraries and Scholarly Communication Program for Ithaka S & R. His presentation will continue our focus on the changing nature of academic libraries. More information about Schonfeld is available here.
The title and abstract of Schonfeld’s presentation are below.
The Library’s Academic Support Role in a Time of Educational Transformation
“Demographic, economic, and technological changes will continue to impact the educational approaches taken at a growing share of colleges and universities. Methodological and technological changes will continue to impact research practices in numerous fields. The library’s academic support role is evolving no less. This talk will explore some of the choices that libraries face in how to serve the changing needs of students, instructors, researchers, and indeed parent institutions, as well as some of the factors that constrain and empower their academic support evolution.”
We will host a deli lunch buffet for all attendees at 11:30 AM. Please RSVP to Leta Janssen (lajanss@ilstu.edu) by Wednesday, April 5, so that we can make accurate lunch arrangements.
