The National Institutes of Health is seeking input on its five-year strategic plan, which will affect the entire NIH network. To that end, the organization is hosting two webinars this week (there was also one last week) that will give an overview of the plan and allow for feedback during a “question-and-answer” session. The first webinar will be on Tuesday, August 11, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM CST, while the second webinar will take place on Thursday, August 13, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM CST. The new five-year plan will focus on biomedical research, specifically as it relates to knowledge of living systems and their behavior. Using this knowledge, the NIH will seek ways to improve the quality of life for individuals, while reducing disability and illness. To achieve these goals, the plan will emphasize stewardship, including ensuring a talented and diverse workforce that maintains high standards in collecting and evaluating data.
